The candlelight is dimming

with each passing minute.

Who knows how long until

the wick is gone?


It would only take

a miracle

for the candle

to keep burning,

for the light it gives off

to be seen and

to be fed.


But, unfortunately,

night draws its

breath away

and

the candle is dimming

with each passing minute,

but I don’t want the

wick to be gone.

Blow gently now,

softly—like a kiss.

Feed the fire and flame.


The flame casts itself

away from me.

The flame flickers,

but I cannot gasp—

for I would take away

any air left.
*****

Sitting, waiting

hoping the light remains.

Watching, crying,

praying the light remains.

The author's comments:
When a friend is in need, sometimes, you cannot do a single thing. All you can do is hope: hope that they lead a better life; hope that they are happy; hope--that they are safe.

Have you read "The Treasure I Found", "All I Find", or "Peaceful Storm"? In my opinion, those are my best works so far :P

Ahh I really like this one! Especially how it doesn't say exactly what it means, but I could still figure it out. Really well written. You've got a lot of good stuff one here :)

I do not think, that without your explanation I would have understude the implide. Still, it could represent most anything and still carry the same efect. I like it.
