Misunderstood and tired,
She watched the children he had sired,
Never once had they loved him,
And their future was grim,
So as a father, she decided he was fired.

The author's comments:
Limericks are traditionally funny, and so the pattern a limerick follows has an amusing ring to it. I simply did this one to be ironic, it's a terrible story of a bad father, and the mother has to make the difficult decision of divorcing him. It's not funny at all, but of course, the nature of the poem may make you laugh.
