Smells of No. 3, Dupree Dr. This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

By josephinelouise, Lubbock, TX

Momma embraces me
when the sun kisses the sky
wave of dove soap
smiles at my senses
soap that smells like

Brother leaves the washroom
when the bacon greets the eggs
cloud of axe spray
smirks at my suffocation
cologne that smells like

Sister asks for my opinion
which skirt goes with this blouse
speck of facial powder
scorns my naked cheek
powder that smells like

Daddy asks me how i slept
as he bids me happy morn,
vapor of cuban coffee
dances off his breath
coffee that smells like
