A poet's work is to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world, and stop it going to sleep.
-Salman Rushdie

I think of you
every moment of every day
I miss you
during the hours we are apart
Your easy smile
Your welcoming presence
When I look at you
You don't look up
Sometimes our conversations
are playful and fun
Sometimes we never talk
Why is it when I look at you
You never look up
You say we're friends
But why does it feel like more?
Why does it feel like we're meant to be?
I try my best to be there when you need it
But when I look at you
honestly, you never look up
When we first met
I knew there was something
Something about you
and between us
But you disappeared
And I forgot
and that something faded away
Now when I think it's coming back
I look at you
But you never look up

To catch a person's eye, and for them to smile, that is one of the best feelings in the world; to know that you make them happy.
