I can relate to this selection, having been a freshman at one time. I remember at the end of my eighth grade year some upperclassmen telling me what might happen when we would be freshmen and new to the high school. They were right, but I think they were just warning us of what was to come not so much to scare us. As a junior now, I don’t torment the freshmen because I know that everyone is going to be one at some point in time, and it doesn’t do anything except put them down so there is no point in doing it. I also can relate with the girl being in track in the longest event although I did not come in last. I understand and appreciate how nice it is to have an upperclassman there to encourage and help the freshmen because I did have a close friend who helped me and gave me confidence. I feel this is important to have because it gets the student on the right path going into high school, and it builds a person’s self-esteem.
