– Mother Teresa

You are not able to see this injury
It can't be bandaged or stitched
No doctor can prescribe a cure
For a broken heart
And this is why it is the worst kind of pain
The causes are quick
The results are a think, enduring misery
The healing is difficult
And it affects your life greatly
An aching heart brings storm clouds
To drown out positive attitudes
It darkens your eyes
Until only negative moments are noticed
It drags your every step
It rebukes your battered spirit
Senses are numbed
And feelings are monopolized
Until the rut you are stuck in
Becomes so bleak and awful that you
Search for change in all of the
Wrong places
And the hopeless vicious cycle continues
Until your insides are shredded
And blackened
You are as battered as a war-torn soldier
Hardly holding yourself together
A cure is not easy to come by
Constant love and care from those who are close
Make the days bearable
But it is a willingness
A desire for improvement
That will surely bring a cure
For most
This desire
Is all but impossible to obtain
So day by day we suffer
The silent battle of a broken heart
As the vicious cycle continues
