I'm sick of the sunken eyes filled with pity.
The people here are much too cruel.
I need to escape the fumes of this city.
It's all they were taught in school.

I've crossed the oceans to live in this town.
Leaving friends behind with all their doubt.
All these emotions sinking my down.
Praying one more time for one more drought.

From the branches of the autumn trees.
I want to know which road to take from here.
Take me to where the answers fall like leaves.
I don't want to live in this constant fear.

I've crossed the oceans to live in this town.
Leaving friends behind with all their doubt.
All these emotions sinking my down.
Praying one more time for one more drought.

I want to be where myself is all I need.
Where the grass dances in a cold summer breeze.
Take me to where my mind can be at peace.
It is so much sweeter than the purest mead.

I've crossed the oceans to live in this town.
Leaving friends behind with all their doubt.
All these emotions sinking my down
Praying one more time for one more drought.

The streets are drowning in hope.
Pleading for a chance to survive.
Dreams knotted together with a rope.
How can this town revive?

I've crossed the oceans to live in this town.
Leaving friends behind with all their doubt.
All these emotions sinking my down.
Praying one more time for one more drought.

The author's comments:
Moving to a new town really changed the way I see life, and I thought a ballad would be a good way to express it. I've written it in ABAB form.
