Religious Atheist This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

By Anonymous, Litchfield, IL

The skyline, it eats the night sky
The sun rises from ashes
Ashes from burning out yesterday
I find its scientific beauty

As an atheist, I still hold my church
I hold the breadth of humanity in folded hands like prayer
I share my faith with pages splattered with beautiful minds

My mission trip is traced on highways
Factual highways, tangible outlines
Maps and hopes and theories

I am not some unenlightened piece of spiritual meat to be pounded
I am honest, I am fresh from the ashes of tradition
