The rain as it pours
causes pause for thought more
than the questioning drafts
leaving on rescue rafts
on the roughest of seas
strives for something like ease
but falls short every time
sinking toward the sublime
where clocks can strike noon
and whip up a tune
that's unheard by the sheep
much too passive to keep
a train of thought going
the train started slowing
the station's miles off still
over mountains, seas, and hills
so far in the distance
yields no such resistance
tears through without care
greed more common than air
a sad state to be seen
as we're by far too keen
to lean toward destruction
and unwanted construction
of looming cold towers
unaware of the showers
that present what's in store
for the rain as it pours.
