Before I opened my eyes, God gave me a music box

I ripped out the twirling, plastic ballerina

"Perfection" in a dress, Peptol Bismol colored pink

Took her out, the lily white lie, before I cared

What someone else'd think

Ten days from being eighteen

And now I'm plucking at the strings

Covered in a veteran rust, no longer understanding the harmonies

Forgot what I was trying to say..

But God gave me a music box, before I even opened my eyes

And whether I have all the answers or not, I'll sing

Cause this box, this song has been with me

Since I inhaled for the first time

And at the end of the day, you were always mine

You were always mine
