“Inside the Pink Room” by Olivia Stein is very relatable and touched my heart. In this short story fiction, Naomi has moved from New York City to a small town across the county to start a new life with her mother who has severe mental issues. In the story, Naomi meets a popular girl named Alexa. Naomi has been invited to a party but during the party Naomi is smothered by all her mother’s needs, and she doesn’t wasn’t that anymore. But, at the party, she finds out that Alexa has a mother who has problems just like Naomi’s mother. Although, the very next day at school, Alexa tells everyone about Naomi’s mom and everyone makes fun of her.

Everyone, (including me) used to the new kids at school and know it’s hard to make new friends. This story tells me to be proud of who I am and my family and love and cherish them no matter what happens.
