The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief is about a 12-year old kid named Percy Jackson. Poseidon, Percy's father (god of the sea) accepts Percy as his son. When Zeus (god of the skies) loses his master bolt he accuses Poseidon of stealing the bolt and using Percy to cover it up. Ares (god of war)tells Percy to seek out his backpack and return it. When Hades takes Sally(Percy's mother), Percy tries to get her back. Percy goes to get his mother back from hades. Percy's friends Annabeth (daughter of Athena) and Grover (a faun) go on an adventure to return his mother.
