The day I turned

His eyes glimmer in the firelight, his face is pale but he has a slight flush on his cheeks as he stares at me with a severe expression. I wrap my arms around my chest to ward off the chill inside of me. His gaze freezes me and warms me at the same time, his eyes flicker away and he suddenly reaches out and grabs a poker from beside the fire and pushes one of the logs back into the flames. Opening his mouth for the first time since he brought me to his room in the coven’s house he says. "What is your name miss?"

I start a bit at his voice, its soft and deep, the sound flows through the room like water through a stream. It’s in contrast with his body, which is tall and wide, he is thick in the chest and has strong looking arms that could encompass both of mine. When I jump his severe gaze softens.
"My name is Alauna." I say just above a whisper. I still don’t know why I followed this man to his house, I usually don’t do things like that, and this man looks like he could kill me as easily as I could squeeze a grape.

"Alauna huh? Pretty name... too bad you won’t need it any longer." he says absently.

I squeak in fear. "You’re going to kill me?!" My body starts to shake as I imagine all the ways this huge man could kill me.

He laughs a deep rolling laugh, "No I am not, not unless you wish me too, but the way your shaking makes me think you’re not ready to die." He pauses and keeps staring at the flames for a few minutes, I’m too scared to ask what he’s planning if not to kill me. "Your grandmother was a vampyre like us, you should know this already. She recently decided to go into the ever sleep. And she asked us to turn you so that you can carry on her line for her."

"Turn me?? You’re making me a vampyre??" I ask excitedly, my fear forgotten.

"Yes your grandmother wanted it so I am the one to do it. I need to take your blood and you need to take some of mine. She wants me to do it so that I am always connected to you. I will be your protector for as long as you want or need me." he looks back at me his expression thoughtful.

"Why did you ask my name if you already knew who I was?"

"Your grandmother never told us your name, you were always daughter when she spoke of you."

I let my gaze travel from his face to the fire. "Yes, that’s what she always called me." I pause to let my thoughts smooth over. "Now will it hurt when you take my blood?" I ask and absently raise my hand to my neck.

His eyes follow the movement. "At first it’s a sharp pain like a needle, then its pleasure, there is a compound in our saliva that makes it feel good."

"Okay..." I close my eyes, a moment later I hear him walk over to me, he takes my hand away from my neck, his hands gentle, another contrast to his size and strength.

"Are you ready?" I hear his voice whisper from next to my ear. I nod and he brushes my hair away from my neck and tilts my head to the side. I feel his soft lips brush against my neck and then a sharp pain that rapidly turns to a feeling like he’s kissing me gently and electric currents run from the spot to my entire body making me tingle. A small moan escapes my lips and I feel him laughing. A few moments later he swipes his tongue over the wound and I hear a tearing sound. I keep my eyes closed, but I smell a deep and seductive scent that smells better and richer than chocolate.

He tilts my head back and uses his thumb to open my lips. I feel something drip into my mouth and the taste explodes on my tongue. I lock my lips on the wound he made on his wrist and suck greedily, the taste is better than anything I’ve ever had. He pulls away before I can get as much as I want. Suddenly I feel exhausted and I lay back down on the bed.

"You’re going to sleep for a while so that your body can finish the change." he says softly. “You’ll sleep for a full twenty four hours. I’ll be here when you wake up. Have good dreams for me."

"I never got your name..." I say sleepily.

"My name is Fallyn, now sleep."

"Kay..." I sigh. "Goodnight Fallyn." Then everything goes dark
