To know me is to love me.

It runs through my veins, it flows through my blood, it’s in my body, it’s in my family, I grew up in it and it will forever be in my life. It’s my father’s religion and it’s my religion it will always be a part of me , there's a piece of it in every family member of mines even if they don’t believe it. It connects me with my spirituality and it calms me, it brings me closer to my ancestors in ways I didn’t know, it connects me to mother earth and nature and it also connects me to God at the end of the day. Santeria is my religion it’s been passed down through each generation and it’s a big part of my life. Yes I don’t know a whole lot but I do know the basics and it’s nothing like you pictured it.
There’s a lot of people out there in the world that discriminate it, judge it and say negative things like it’s the “devils” work or whatever but it’s nothing near it, there’s a light a dark side to it but that’s just like any other religion in the world. No matter what ever single religion leads up to God in the end that’s the same the only thing that’s different its just how they're studied or how you go about it that’s all. The only thing that would be kind of bad is being in the hands of a bad person just like putting a knife into a criminal's hand or being in some sort of religion where someone gets their head stuck in the power and doing horrible things to people. I take Santeria as me being able to be at peace with not only myself but with everything else and for me to be able to connect in some sort of way with my ancestors from the past so that I can be in tune with how I am as a person. It’s all about finding who you are, appreciating everything about life, connecting with the universe and worshiping your very own god. But no matter how you look at it every religion will be talked about by somebody and there’s no changing that.
Don’t be afraid to believe in something because history shows us how far you can go with just planting your feet firm and doing what you believe in.. Remember that.
P.S. remember what our ancestors had to do to stay true to their god and not lose their faith.
