"Let's throw away the hate & rock tonight" - Kid Dynamite

On the 16th of August, Friday, new America pop-rock band, Before You Exit safely arrived in Malaysia to perform for their I Like That EP tour. They have been to Los Angeles, Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta and also Singapore for this tour and we are next on the list. Their showcase would be held in the evening of 19th of August in CD RAMA, Sunway Pyramid.

The band consists of the McDonough brothers, Riley, Connor and Toby. The band was formed in 2007 and has been touring with band All Time Low, followed by a tour with Olly Murs and coming up in the future with Australian hottie Cody Simpson. The band has released their brand new single I Like That in February 2013. The moment they arrived to their hotel, I got a minute with them before they checked-in their rooms. I got to asked them a few questions before they go and take a break.

First question; Throughout your shows and tours you have been through, what is your favorite memory of all?

To us, the greatest part of the tours and shows is meeting the fans. It's really cool to see so many different people flooding the the shows. What's better is when they surprisedly came to our hotels, to the airports and all, wanting to meet us and take a picture and all. That's the greatest part of all. That feels really wild and fun. It's great to see so many people that loves you and idolizes you. Yeah, it's kinda like being Bieber for a while, with all the Beliebers lining up for you, it's the life in fab lane. Best memory ever.

Cool, so how do you handle the criticism, as a new band today?

So far we've seem, the criticism is not at all that bad. We love our new look, our new image and stuff but I guess the biggest part of all is the people to know the brand to our band 100% , you know to avoid misconceptions and stuff. We had a slight difference in our music from the past few years. If you noticed, our new single I Like That is very very different from our other type of music. We figured we should have a little mix in our music so that more and more people would come and like it, and it's kind of surprising to see that the song is liked by so many people across the globe. It is such one of the greatest achievements so far.

Since Connor is 19, Riley is 17 and Toby is like 15 years old, is it hard being so young and always touring?

Actually it is not that hard at all. Instead it is kind of fun, it's a good balance. But the part that is the trickiest in being a band is school. For instance, Toby occasionally has to go for a few classes. But it's not becoming such a big problem to us. Toby is a smart kid, he passed in every single class there is.

How did you come up with the name 'Before You Exit' in the first place?

Well we wanted a name that dedicates people. We came up with the name Before You Exit by the quote, 'before you exit, make a difference'. To us, this quote is really well, meaningful to us. It shows that, as a band, we should try and try and try to keep on going and never give up. We think about it and we're like, "Yeah, we will place a record in the book. We will be one of the best bands that is ever known. We will."

You guys have been on tour with Olly Murs, and you will be touring with Cody Simpson soon, right? What is the most exciting part about this?

The tour with Olly Murs was great really. We're excited to be on tour with Cody Simpson for his Paradise tour really. I guess the most exciting part about this is that we're all young, I mean Cody Simspon is like younger than Connor and Riley so it's kinda fun, youngsters hanging out and have fun.

Well I guess that's all for now. Thank you for sparing your time for me. Thank you and I'll see you soon on Monday!

Sure, I'll see you soon too.

Members of Before You Exit checked-in to their hotel rooms and went straight to sleep, counting down the days for the showcase on Monday. We hope that they would have a splendid visit here in Malaysia. Have fun boys!
