Equality, a simple word but a tremendous meaning involves a big part in individualism. People who do not respect homosexuals tend to forget or care that they are not any higher up of a class than the homosexuals. Everyone, no matter what race, type, color should all be considered and treated the same. Some heterosexuals do not understand or feel the pain of the ones that are actually struggling for equality. Back when there was slavery (1619), people were separated and there was segregation between races. This turned out to be resolved into abolishing slavery and equal rights for all men. If we were able to protest and have people such as Martin Luther King, Gandhi, etc. lead for what was right back then, then there are no reasons why we cannot fight for equality between homosexuals and heterosexuals now.

Have you ever had the feeling of being avoided in a group situation, when they go out to eat or work on a group project together, and you were excluded from them? That's how some homosexuals feel when they get left out because of the person that they are. Every men are the same no matter what, all men have the same rights, all men have the same abilities to do whatever they wish to; nobody should be excluded out because they are different. Nobody is the same or perfect, everyone has their own way of choosing how to live their lives. We all have the right to believe in whatever we choose to, whatever our religion says, but even if your religion does not support homosexuals, you still have the right to not follow that one belief out of all others. Henry Thoreau states, “Unjust laws exist: shall we be content to obey them," it is up to you whether you act to accordance of that law or ignore it. It will by no means make you a bad person if you do not follow ALL the sayings present in your worship book. It will also give you freedom of having some say in the religion you respect.

The common saying, "Treat others the way you want to be treated," assists me through my everyday life. I have respect for everyone no matter their personalities, their appearance, or their attitudes toward me. I strongly believe if one is acting rude or selfish to you one day, try thinking on the positive side that maybe they are just having a bad day, so brush it off and show your respect anyway.
There are many lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organizations out there, located in many countries that you could join to look after, to encourage them and to show how important they are in our world, through either online or at their headquarters. Many companies such as Nike, Starbucks, Google, Gap, etc. are all proud supporters of gay rights. To be apart of strengthening this right, you could also easily improve your local stores by purchasing their products and putting yourself up there to say that you have recognized their support in homosexuals.
