Many people hear comments like this daily. They're told that they are worthless, that they'll never be part of the "in crowd". But, what makes the "in crowd" so special. Because they shoot everyone's self esteem down? Because they look like someone out of a fashion magazine? Many kids are discriminated for being themselves. It has become harder and harder to feel secure.
What's the point in being some random person in a group. Why not stand out. Sure, someone may laugh. But you know what... that's only because they don't have the guts you have to be different. Imagine a group of white sheep. Each one looks like the other, acts like the other. Now imagine a black sheep in the middle of the herd. Which do you notice more; a white or a black? Most likely the black because it stands out more. It's the same way with people. If you are different, if you're yourself, people will notice you.
I'm not saying everyone in life will like you. Being an "outcast" can be hard. But why be one of the "in crowd" when all it does is turn you into someone you're not. I feel that this is a sensitive topic that not many people discuss. But it's something important that SHOULD be talked about.
So make the choice. Are you going to be a white sheep, or a black sheep?
