Animal Rights

There comes a time in everyone’s life when one must stand up for what they believe in. I believe in treating animals right and equally. That’s why I found it necessary and proper to take a stand for Animal Rights. Animal rights are the belief that animals have the right to be free of human use and exploitation. Animals have lives of their own and they shouldn’t be treated and looked upon as property. Why should they suffer so we can be entertained? Recently my mother has been joining online groups that support animal rights. One that caught my eye was the PETA group. PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA believes that among the serious problems in our world, animal cruelty is among them. I believe so as well. Not many people know about the animal suffrage that goes on in this world. I wonder how many animals suffered to provide your weekly entertainment at the zoo or how many animals were being tested on so that you can walk around with your makeup on. The things people do to animals is sick and inhumane. Did you know that due to puppy mills which large-scale commercial dog-breeding, dogs are becoming ill with things like heart and kidney disease? These dogs are kept in the worst conditions. They are kept in cramped and filthy quarters without proper care. The sad part is that if they are not sold, then they are killed. I cannot stand by idly while these innocent animals suffer without being able to speak up for themselves. I know not everyone is going to stop eating meat but there are other ways of helping support animal rights and avoid animal cruelty. One can simply spread the word by sharing videos, and facts that go unnoticed by many people. Also buying household products and cosmetics that are cruelty free can help many animals. ADOPT FROM A SHELTER. These animals are going to euthanized if they do not find a home. Just because they are older than or not as cute as the next one doesn’t mean they aren’t as loveable. All of my dogs have been adopted from the shelter and I smile every time I think I saved a life. Next time you go to the puppy store or buy a bottle of shampoo, think about who had to suffer for it and who is still suffering for it.
