The author questions why modern immigrants are looked down upon when a large majority of U.S. citizens have immigrant ancestors. The author wonders why we do not welcome them into our country and give them the right to live a better life than they could be living in their countries of origin.

I strongly agree with the opinions expressed in this article and have even wondered the same kinds of questions myself. To me, it seems that people have simply forgotten over time that our nation is one heavily based on immigrants. Some people may not even know that some of their ancestors were from another country, but it is very possible. We as Americans need to be more considerate and welcoming to people who wish to settle in the U.S. No one should be denied the opportunity to live a good life, especially when the immigrants that we do have often work hard at low-paying jobs just to be able to support their families.
