“Blooming,” by Lucy Massad, is a heartfelt and sincere poem that any teenage girl could relate to. Her poem conveys a feeling of desire and hope as she describes the wonderful feeling just one person can give you. She refers the feeling the person gives to her as roses blooming inside of her. “It was when I met you, my roses started to flourish even in the most deserted parts of my soul,” Lucy writes. This line portrays the amazing feeling of meeting that one person who automatically makes you feel happy.

The last line of her poem, describes the heart wrenching feeling of realizing he doesn’t love you back. Walking away and forgetting about that one person you obsessed over is one of the most difficult things to do. Although, somber, Lucy’s poem spoke truth to me. I want to thank her for writing this beautiful poem and assuring me that it is okay to fall irrevocably in love with a person, just by looking into their eyes.
