I found Allison Ive's memior, "Secondhand Insecurity" to be a refreshing new perspective on the common issue of self confidence. In it, she explains that secondhand insecurities are not things we are warned about "like cigarettes or alcohol," but are just as dangerous. Ives gives the readers examples from her own life, which I thought made her article more relatable as readers have more sympathy for her. "We aren't warned about poisonous people," Ives states, as she passionately warns readers about the dangers of secondhand insecurities while also urging them to avoid them as they would other unhealthy things. Thank you Allison Ives, for bringing to light this issue that, previously, was kept unfortunately hidden from view.
