Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

I think everyone’s been in a position like Andrew Galanter in “Hopeless Romantic.” There’s one point in our lives when we feel our hearts beating, our hands sweating, and our cheeks burning. Many people have experienced the same thing as Andrew, including me. Seeing that cute girl or hot guy at the end of the hallway is almost an immediate trigger to becoming nervous. No one can control these feelings and we stutter. We can’t think straight or speak right. It’s almost impossible. In “Hopeless Romantic,” Andrew clearly describes the condition of being a teenage boy having a crush. What made his story so special was that his feelings were so relatable.
In Andrew’s short experience, one line caught my attention the most: “Occasionally, daring to be bold, I glance up, searching for one person in particular: the Juliet to my Romeo, or, more ideally, the Princess Leia to my Han Solo.” I’m sure this pertains to almost every teenager. As an eighth grader, I also tend to look for that special someone. It seems like a natural instinct of humans. I guess this is what Andrew feels like. I guess this is what teenagers feel like. Thanks, Andrew, for making me realize that all teenagers go through the same situations. I’m glad that we do, too, because this is probably what the cycle of life is.
