Zoe Davis' "#Savingtheworld?" was a piece written that could be relatable to everyone around the world. She talks about how social media has taken over and is used to raise awareness. For example, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Everyone was doing it in last summer. ALS is a "degenerative nerve disease which often ends in death." People dumped buckets full of ice cold water over their heads and if they didn't, they would have to donate to ALS. Many celebrities have donated a lot of money and also, did the challenge. Not only was it for a good cause, it was pure entertainment to see everyone's reaction. She also used the Arab Spring as an example. Social media was used to organize protests.
I felt this was very relatable, because I always see pictures or tweets such as "If this gets 2,000 retweets, my mom will stop smoking." I look at the number and it is double that. It's so amazing that with just one click of a button, you can make a difference whether it'd be a small thing or something that takes over the world.
