"Do not give up, the beginning is always the hardest."

As a soldier I’m supposed to help.
Instead I stood there and yelped.
The poor fellows lined up in rows,
Wearing yellow stars,
Standing on their toes.
What they made these people do,
Made me and everyone else around blue.
How they did it was truly insane.
These poor people suffered true pain.
I never knew what they actually did.
And to realize they tortured an innocent kid.
Wow! Look how these people suffered.
Vile threats were also offered.
All the innocents randomly slaughtered.
To stand here and gaze.
I wouldn’t forget this for days.

"Never fear shadows. They simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby." - Unknown

I find it hauntingly clever that you decided to make a rhyming poem out of such a gruesome historical event... Not that I don't like it, because I do. I love it. It basically makes the whole poem an oxymoron, and that's just my kind of poetry right there. Anyway - I like this a lot, (like happyrocks said) but I feel like the very last line could/should be edited. Instead of saying "I wouldn't forget this for days," maybe say something along the lines of "I'm still remembering it to this day"? - Something like that will creep the reader out because it seems like the whole poem was a flashback and now there's an old skeletal hand poking out of their computer screen to try and pull them in... Okay maybe not. Anyway, great job.
