Feminism.

That word is thrown around so much now days. Not many people even know what it really means anymore. So many have turned it into something it isn't and tainted this beautiful word.

Feminism is supposed to be about complete gender equality. Instead some females, sometimes called "Feminazi's", claim to be feminists but are actually seeking female power instead of female equality. Do not confuse them with the true feminists.

Feminism may sound like it would only be about women but it's not. Honestly, everyone would benefit from complete gender equality, men and women alike. And adding to that, men can be feminists as well if they truly believe in equality of both sexes.

A womans place is not the kitchen just as it is not the mans place to single handedly support his family. And as absolutely absurd as this sounds, there are actual people who believe sexist things such as this but I have not, am not, and will not ever be one of them just as I hope you will not as well.

A woman does not have to be a fragile, dependent lady; She can be powerful, successful and strong all on her own. A long time ago females only wore dresses and skirts; They cooked, cleaned  and gave birth to children. What kind of a life is that? As a female I would not want a life of only chores and chasing children whilst the man of the house was thought of as superior and brought home the paycheck. Now women work, wear pants, and are more independent but still do not get the full equality that they deserve. They are still thought of as more fragile, more emotional, and more dependent. Also many women who speak out strongly about this matter are considered too opinionated and instantly unattractive.

A man does not have to be strong, super successful or unemotional. It doesn't make you any less of a man if you cry, or show how you feel. It just shows that you have a beautiful and tender heart that isn't restricted by fear of society. Men shouldn't have to support the family by themselves; A woman should have a job of her own to help the family. And lastly, guys, you do not have to be strong 24/7. There are so many things in life that hurt, but you don't have to bottle it up and keep it to yourself. If we all believed in equality, men could be more open with their emotions and not worry about sacrificing their pride.

Don't you see now? True feminism is about complete equality. We are all equal and I can only hope that one day everyone or at least most everyone see it that way.

I believe so strongly in gender equality. I can't even remember a time that I didn't. Everyone is equal and it's time we started acting like it. If you agree, disagree or have had an experience with gender inequality please share it in the comments below.
