What seemed to be a wasted day turned into a thrill ride that will stick with me forever. My mom and I went on a grocery run to my favorite store: Costco. Abundances of free samples and new food to try. Ahhhhh the sweet smell of plastic and fresh pizza filled the air. My stomach turned in knots as I didn’t have anything to eat all day. I anxiously decide what I want to eat in the food court and my mom says “order what you want”. I was so hungry I could have ordered the whole menu tbh. We sat down, munched down on our food and began to shop for our groceries.

Suddenly, this one very attractive girl just starts waving at me and I tense up, but my thoughts and actions just froze. In my head I’m thinking: should I wave back, is she looking at me, I don’t know her, how could she wave at me, I’m not looking that good today, I’ll just wave back. The hairs on the back of my neck rise, palms and feet start to sweat, this is the decision of the decade in my hands. I raise my shoulders and prepare to show her who's the boss. I begin to raise my hand and she starts to giggle, so I think all is going well.

Little that I know that I was setting myself up for the biggest embarrassing, humiliating event that has taken place in my life. As my hand reached Its peak she starts laughing like I had told her a joke or something but it didn’t seem like I was causing it. My heart starts to beat faster as it feels like I am about to go unconscious because the pressure is too great for me to handle. In the background I hear my mom saying it was time to pay and for us to leave.

With that in mind I said “lets just get it over with so I won’t regret it”. In great suspense, I start waving back but it seems like she didn't acknowledge that I had waved but but it looked like she was having a conversation with an invisible person, 10 feet away. So I turned around, scared and very nervous to find out that she was waving to her boyfriend behind me, asking him what type of snacks he wants, instead of saying hello to me.

Me standing there, ready to cry myself to sleep, soaking in all the embarrassment, and admiring her beauty; soon enough I finally decide to move on. While still being sweaty, my mom tells me how the cashier was hitting on her but that's the least of my worries. On our walk to the car I help unload and put everything in the car. I think about everything that has happened today and has every little thing has got me thinking about how I have took a step into manhood by upping my game in pulling girls….. in my dreams.
