Letting Go
Have you ever seen that one fragile bird?
That one bird that wants nothing more
than to soar above the clouds
But you keep it there
Clutched in your palms ever so tight
That fragile bird so anxious to fly
But you don’t let it go
You don’t let it go because you're afraid of what it’ll become
You don’t let it go because you don’t want to lose it forever
But sometimes you have to let go
Letting go of that fragile bird
and letting it soar, could make it even better
That bird may even come back to you
And one day you could even watch it grow into something beautiful
But until then you have to trust that it’ll come back to you

I wrote this piece at a time when I was at a rough spot in my relationship and I thought my only option was to let him go.
