“Joy in the Darkness” by Siani N. touched my heart. She describes her mission trip journey to San Pedro Sula, Honduras and the affects she encountered.  One part in particular in her story, Siani writes about the hardships of people had to face in the orphanage.  She writes, “I held a precious newborn who would never know the name of her mother.” She tells us that the infant would grow up without her birth mother. I find this very heartbreaking for that infant to grow up without their mother.

Siani’s story has showed me how some people take things for granted when there are people around the world who have little to nothing. Siani informs that the orphans, despite their outcomes face each day with joy and a smile on their face. Her story inspires me to help others who need a helping hand. Also this story showed me the challenges people face and how someone like Siani could go and make a difference in their lives.
