“Don’t need to worry about this team guys. They went 3-3; in pool we went 6-0 they don’t even belong on the same field as us if we field like we have been we will be fine plus they have one good pitcher we get him out and this game is ours” I babbled.
We had gone 3-0 through our first 3 games
“ 3 down…. 3 to go” I howled.

We have legit shot at winning this thing. We were halfway to our goal of 6-0 for the tournament pool play
Coming into this tournament our goal was to go 6-0 in pool play and be seeded in the top 10. Going into the 6th game we had a lot of pressure our goal was on the line. We ended up succeeding our goal going 6-0 we were seeded #6 in the whole tournament. Heading back to our dorms after winning we were pretty hyped up and a little bit cocky thinking we were the best team at the tournament. After going 6-0 we thought we had a legit shot to win this tournament.

“Let’s go”
“Were the best team in this tournament”
“No one can beat us”.

We were up till about 10:30 just going crazy because we had succeeded our goal but we had to go to bed kinda at a decent time knowing we had business to care of the next day and our first tournament game against a team who went just 3-3 in pool play.

The morning of our game I shot out of bed like a rocket taking off because of how excited I was for our game I went with the team to get some breakfast all of us were so loose with no nerves running through us knowing we were going to win this game. We did our normal before the game we hit, stretched, and played catch then we headed to the field. It was our first tournament game of the day we were scheduled to play a team that went 3-3 in pool play In the dugout we were getting excited and ready to go play some ball. We ran out of the field we were the home team  since we had the better record we had that cocky swag to us thinking know one could beat us because of what we had done and the games before. Boy did that change our thinking real quick. The first pitch of the game-- “CRACK”  a kid from the other team jacked a homerun. My heart sank in my head I wondered was this the end of the run were we going to lose after all we went through to get to the point that we were at? They came to play flat out and we weren't ready for it. The scoreboard showed that to, we lost 12-4 it was over. The cocky side of us didn’t look very good anymore.

It was tough to swallow their was tears in everyone’s eyes  I squeezed my Mother’s arm and just let it out. All of our cockiness had kinda came back and bit us in the butt and made us look bad. Our run of  a lifetime was over and there was no going back the owner came and talked to us after our devastating loss to a team we should have beat but we didn’t come to play, we played like we were satisfied with 6-0.  I learned such a valuable lesson this day and it was: to stay humble because the cocky you bring can come back and bite you in the butt and that’s what it did to my team it is ok to have confidence in yourself and in your team but their is no need for the cockiness. I also learned to take the same approach for every game no matter what team it is you never know what they could bring to the table.
