The House on Mango street book was much different from other books ive read before. I say this because instead of going by chapters and having steady character build-up, the book is built up into large poem like paragraphs. The book's main focus is on a girl named Esperanza who had just moved into a new home with her family, but doesn't enjoy living there. Over the course of the book we learn about how she feels she isn't meant to be here and how she wants to leave everything on mango street behind but as we learn more we see that although most of her times were bad, she still had moments where she enjoyed her life on mango street.
