In the writing titled “Uniting Two Americas” written by Carrie A. I felt that she relayed the feelings of many Americans.  Her writing is about the days following the election left me feeling hopeful that humanity still has some faith.  Like the author, I was also one of the “obnoxious teenagers morphed into cartoon children with rain clouds hovering above their heads.”  I was shocked, I was upset, and I even had a twinge of disappointment inside me.  How could our nation want him as our President?  Unlike California, where the author lives, my small corner of Ohio is overflowing with conservative pride.  This, of course, made it a little hard to be upset.  Being constantly surrounded with a different belief than my own was helpful, though.  It taught me to see both sides of each candidate.  It taught me that despite my beliefs, I have to be accepting because, like the author wrote, “now it is more important than ever for us to come together.”
