I Want To Write a Poem
i want to write a poem for the girls who wear miniskirts under their trackpants because it gets cold when you are sneaking out of your bedroom window at one in the morning. They tell me you gotta look hot when you’re dumping a guy. For impact, you know. I want to write a poem for the girls who use cigarettes as bookmarks, and flick the ash onto the pages of Pride and Prejudice, only heightening Darcy’s ego further. Monica from next door tells me if she did believe in a God, it would be a left handed handicapped guitarist. Sarah from across the street tells me she wants to get her nipples pierced because she thinks they will stop her from wanting to itch her breasts all the damn time. Anjali, who lives two houses down from mine, says she wants to be a pornstar because its either that or an arranged marriage if she wants to get laid. Lucy says my boyfriend doesn't believe in labels, so I embroidered "hypocrite" on the back of his favourite coat. I want to write a poem for all of these girls. I want to write.
