October Issue Teen Ink Feedback

Being in kindergarten can be easy. But not for Caroline. She has to deal with an identity crisis, for even one mistake can cost you lunch. Why I Hid My Lunch, by Caroline Dinh, is an enjoyable flashback from the future reflecting on Caroline’s past.

I could relate to Caroline; I too have past experiences that involve identity crises with my race. I am Chinese and people have been stereotyping me for being very smart in the past. Whenever people saw that I didn't get a 100 on a test, they always teased me by saying, “Oh, no dinner for you!” and whatnot. Therefore, I thank you Caroline for creating this marvelous piece of writing. Hopefully, the lesson of the story will teach people to prevent racism and stereotyping that involve people’s race and/or culture.
