Pink!
Light, fluffy and soft soon turns into a sweet, satisfying taste as it melts against my tongue. Gently my hand takes another piece from the gathering of sugar, and I repeat the process. Soon I reach the end of the clump and am left with sticky fingers. Sweetness that once was prominent now disappears. All of a sudden a hand engulfed mine. I recognize it immediately. This is the same hand that walked me to school, wiped the tears off my face, and prepared meals day and night. The hand pulled me up to a fence. An odor fills the air. The smell resembles manure. I reach over the fence, and a ruff snout grazes my hand. I place my hand on the beast’s head, and I stroke its ear. I was expecting an “oink” to come out of the animal’s mouth, similar to what we learned in kindergarten, but the animal did not make a sound. Soon after my encounter with the cordial creature, we left the fairgrounds. Although I was bitter to leave, the memories I made will forever be pink.
