I'm sitting here
On this grassy knoll,
Under the branches of the gnarled oak,
Watching my flag
Wafting in the Autumn wind.
Flying high above our meager heads.
It's almost hypnotic,
That red, white, and blue beauty.
Why must you stand for all that is corrupt
In contemporary America?
Why must your indecency outweigh your gorgeous outer shell?
Why must you plaster the walls,
Like a swastika,
Everywhere I look?
Is it because you symbolize freedom?
Then why have you taken it from so many others?
Is it because you stand for independence?
