Kids, young and free
Laugh and run around,
Creating a blurry rainbow.
They don’t wear dull colors,
Or think dull thoughts,
Or think about the economic crisis.
None think about world peace,
Or political party affiliation.
Stress does not show
On their ice cream stained faces.
Crushing deadlines don’t trip them
Like their untied shoelaces do.
Kids are not going
To dream about love and regrets.
They do not break curfew and sneak around
Like they sneak candy into their rooms.
Only, far away does an adolescent
Think of all these things and more,
Wishing he had a teddy bear to cuddle with,
While dreaming of rainbow painted playgrounds.
