An Event This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

By Mandy S., Stafford, VA

And this made me think.
How many people on Earth,
are, at this moment,
thinking the exact same thing,
at the exact same time as me?
I wonder who else
just had an overwhelming desire
for tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Or who else just cursed as they stubbed their toe
on the door of their bedroom …
and suddenly I feel very small
because I can no longer
throw my hands up in anguish
and say, “No one understands me!”
Because they do.
Because someone else, somewhere else
on Sept. 21st, at 10:10 a.m., just finished a poem entitled, “An Event that Happens to but One in One Billion People Every Day Occurs about Six Times a Day, 2,000 Times a Year.

This is really thought provoking.  I like the ending of it too!  Nice work!  :)
