SuperNOVA
Summary:
John Lange was your typical New York detective. At least, that's what he's been told. The only thing Lange can remember is getting caught in a near fatal explosion, and now his ex-wife's employers, an organization known only as Project NOVA, have become his only lifeline. No one's willing to tell the whole truth, and no one can be trusted. NOVA's own operatives have been disappearing, and someone on the outside has been watching Lange for a long, long time.
But before Lange can investigate the secretive Project NOVA, he's going to have to learn the truth about himself. And the secrets John Lange's own mind hides may yet make this case his last!

Thank you, I'm glad you like it :)
I'll be sure to keep up with your novel!
Ah, I see. The first chapter is mostly a retrospective--John is filling the reader in on "the story thus far", having already gone through formal training at Project NOVA prior to the opening of the first chapter.
Currently I'm writing with self-imposed length limits on the chapters in order to get the first draft of the manuscript complete--it's partially responsible for the fast pacing. After the first draft is complete I will be going back and rewriting, extending, and reworking various chapters and plotpoints in order to create a "Director's Cut" that willl serve as a final manuscript that I plan on shopping to agents.
The romance will play a larger role from the third act on, assuming everything goes as planned.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it :)
Currently I only have the first ten chapters online, so things are really just gearing up.
I'll check out your novel right now, I'm always happy to check out other people's work :)
What exactly did you mean by your hospital comment? I was a little confused and I'd like to take your advice into consideration.
I've dedicated a fair amount of the second act to shedding some light on Project NOVA and John himself in what I hope is a very organic way, but we'll see once I post it online.
This seems like a cool story :) This is just a suggestion and I'm not the best critic but I think you should put him in the hospital (I think that is where he is at) to do more show than tell but this is just my opinion. Anyway, it's a good story. I hope it gets published as a book one day.
Do you mind checking out he first chapter of my story? It's called Kingdom Come, Chapter 1 and if you do read it I'm sorry it's so long.
Thanks for your comment :)
I tried to leave it open for interpretation whether John and Fiona were aware of imminent explosion in the opening chapter, whether it was a conscious decision on one of their parts to take down the other.
I will be revisiting the opening scene in later arcs as more of the backstory is revealed, though. Particularly when Fiona returns to the forefront of the cast, as she is currently the only character who knows the whole story.
I feel a little guilty for hyping up the announcements, but I think fans of the novel will definitely be excited when they hear them :D
Let me know when you read it, I think you'll enjoy it :)
I haven't read it yet, but reading over the comments I think I'll try to ASAP. It sounds like you're getting good reviews, so it must have something of worth in it. I'll try to rate it today.
And it's hard not to read something when the author announces that there's going to be an announcement. It's like a dark hall with one closed door at the end. It kinda forces you to want to walk down and see what's inside. Or in this case, to read the novel. XJ
Hopefully!
The chapters are really more like sections though, I've kept them rather short on purpose. The final manuscript is expected to be around three hundred pages though, which I think is plenty.
