As a black female, I can honestly tell you that your quote bothers me. Quite a lot actually.
Maybe they receive special treatment because historically they never had. You are white. You should be proud; however, black and hispanics haven't had that opportunity to be proud about their heritage until recently. Less than 70 years ago, blacks and hispanics were saying the same thing you are. Are you telling me that you have the same mindset of a person stuck in the 1960's?

I am not trying to be rude but this article makes me slightly angry becuase i go to an extremely diverse school but the white students are treated the best and some people don't have jobs becuase they were raised thinking that they were inferior to white people and that they couldn't becuase of all the rasicmsm if anything it is truthfully the minorities that are discriminated against, becuase america was made for the white and were chanigning it but and your side comment what do you mean about black and hispanic people getting treated better everybody i know gets told that they won't get jobs and that they not as good so i think that you should really look around you and open your eyes becuase your attitude is the heart of the problem not white people not black people and not hispanic people

What happened to your ancestors did not happen to you. And you can't judge us based on what whites did over one hundred years ago. believe it or not there were many whites who died because they were trying to end slavery. And just like all the whites in America aren't from America like my family which is from France, not all blacks are from africa in the slave times. Can you trace your ancestors back to a ship in the 1800s? There is no proof. Its a proven fact that less than 40% of blacks in america are actually from the slave ships of africa. Its unlikely that you are a direct decendent of a slave. you are being racist. not us

EVERYONE IN THAT TIME PERIOD DID: THOMAS JEFFERSON, GEORGE WASHINGTON ETC. AND SECOND DID YOU JUST HAPPEN TO FORGET THAT 12 MILLION AFRICANS WERE TAKEN FROM THEIR HOMES FOR 300 YEARS AND FORCED INTO SLAVERY. YOU CHOOSE TO IGNORE JUST HOW SEVERE, CRUEL, RACIST, IMMORAL SLAVERY WAS. IT HAPPENED AND YOU AS IN WHITE AMERICANS CAN'T JUST CHOOSE TO FORGET ABOUT THE PAST. AND SO THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT IS SUPPOSEDLY "TRYING TO MAKE UP FOR WHAT THEY DID" BY HAVING DIVERSITY IN THEIR COLLEGES ETC. SO STOP ACTING LIKE HISPANICS AND BLACKS GET BETTER TREATMENT. LOOK AT THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, THEY ARE MORE BLACKS AND HISPANICS IN JAIL, INCARCERATED FOR DRUG CHARGES COMPARED TO THEIR POPULATIONS. THAT'S DEFINETLY FISHY. THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM DOESN'T TREAT MINORITIES FAIRLY AT ALL. AND THE THING YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER IS ABOUT THE WHOLE COLLEGE TID BIT WHICH IS WHAT I THINK YOU'RE REALLY UPSET ABOUT IS THAT MOST WHITE FAMILIES ARE ARE MIDDLE CLASS, AND LIVE IN A TWO PARENT HOUSEHOLD, WHERE THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION MIGHT BE STRESSED AT AN EARLY AGE. WHILE SOME OTHERE MINORITY HOUSEHOLDS MIGHT NOT. AND FOR COLLEGES WHO WANT DIVERSITY IN THEIR SCHOOLS, SOMETIMES FOR THE RIGHT REASON AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IS USED, AND THEIR IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.

This is great and so true, why is it that we have to stand on heads to keep from being called racist. I find it funny that there is BET but if there was WET it would be called discriminative.

THANK YOU!! to add to what you put down, I'm white, so i can't join the black homeschool group, but I can't start a white homeschool group. I never discriminated against anyone. Nothing I could do in my whole life would stop slavery from happening, since I wasn't even alive when it happened. So why should the place I might get in college be taken by a black person who was never a slave, whose parents were never slaves, just because they are balck. isn't that racism? treating them differently because of the color of their skin?

I have to disagree. 1st, I probably am almost as white as computer paper...
2nd, there truely does exist this discrimination. It is just as real as discrimination against any other group. And I'm not trying to sound important, that's just the way it is.
