I think that you should not be required to attend college. There are many advantages to attending college. You receive a much higher education than if you didn't go to college. According to The Motley Fool: An Investment Guide for Teens, an adult with a college education earns an average of 81% more money annually. Unfortunately, college educations are extremely expensive. My sister is applying to a college that has a tuition of $33,930 a year. Although my family can afford to go to college, many people cannot.

If you are poor, and you are going to farm for a living, is there any point to waste what little money you have on college? I know you have to go to college if you want to be a doctor or a teacher, but someone who is poor is most likely not going to become a doctor. If you receive a scholarship, and you cannot afford to attend college without one, I think you should accept the scholarship. If you are living on food stamps, or only attending school for the lunches, and you get a letter that tells you that the school will pay for you tuition, why not accept? Again, you may receive as much as 81% more money in your lifetime because of your intelligence or athleticism. You might be the only one in your entire family that has ever attended college, and you might be able to support you parents with the higher payment. But if everyone was required to attend college, people might not receive this opportunity because everyone else in the world could get the scholarship too.
