I Am Offended

I am offended.

I can't pray in public

I can't sing "Joy to the World"

I can't set up a nativity scene in my front yard-

I'm "Shoving Religion" down "people's" throats.

I am offended.

Everyone speaks during the "moment of silence"

No one says the Pledge of Allegiance.

It's ok to drop the "F" bomb

But if I bring my Bible to school I'M crazy?

I am offended

Atheists can publicly denounce GOD ALMIGHTY

Catholics can cross themselves

But BAPTISTS are fanatics?

I am offended.

Liars have senate seats

Fools represent our nation

PRAYER was taken out of school

and no one has protested YET?

STAND UP, AMERICA!!

I am absolutely loving this poem. I love it. Recognize all the negative feedback for what it is- something meant to shut you up and keep you down. Don't let it. Good for you for writing this piece. I am right there with you!

It's good to be offended and passionate.  But, isn't hard to sway someone's mind who's is already made up?

I am OFFENDED because I can't be myself in public OR with my Babtist FAMILY! I am a religious person and I DO read my Bible everyday, but I get told I'm going to Hell because im bisexual. Religion in schools hasn't been around in YEARS! Deal with it! People don't pray like they used to, and teens seem to think that they can get away with alot of crap, but coming here and complaining that your views about how America is acting is WRONG, that's completely stupid! You should spe... (more »)

I'm offended. I'm offended that out of all the things that are wroung with the world, you chose complain about people having religious freedom, in a place where everyone does. I'm offened by you're lack of respect to  people of other faiths. I'm offened you wrote this like your religion is the only one that's followers have been percecuted. And most of all, I'm offended your offended.

I don't understand why you're offended. Everything you mentioned about "not being able to do things" is completely legal. Now, I don't know about Texas (It says you're from there at the top. I'm not a stalker) but no one minds if I pray. No one cares if I sing "Joy to the World" (Lose Yourself is another story). I've brought my Bible to school. And the Pledge of Allegiance is optional because where I'm from (also America) they don't think kids ... (more »)

I am offended that Christains burned Pagans alive and yet they're complaining that they're discriminated against.

If you're really going to use that example.... What about Rome? They started by limiting what Christians could and could not display or talk about. Then, as time progressed they began to kill them, burn them to death, behead them torture them, feed them to hungry animals. Thousands of Christians, literally driving them to build underground cities. Or, how about modern examples? Christians all over the world today have and had THEIR religous freedom encroached upon. There are undercover churc... (more »)

There are certain schools where it's perfectly okay to be openly Christain will be expelled if you practice or even speak of Paganism. You think that's not discrimination? Maybe the Romans did what they did because THEY WERE HERE FIRST and felt they had to defend themselves. Think about it this way: You're practicing your religion, whatever it is, and then suddenly someone, or a group of people, comes along and tells you that what you're doing is wrong. Obviously, you're prob... (more »)

don't you only get expelled if it is a private school that you would only be a part of if you were religious anyway?

I'm Catholic, Baptists aren't fanatics. I agree with you on many terms, because although I am CATHOLIC i'm considered a fanatic/weird/Jesusfreak/ if I bring MY bible to school I'm a stupid girlw ho believes in something that "doesn't exist" I feel you, God bless and don't let 'em get you down.

I find it interesting that everone is so offended by anything to do with God, but most people don't even believe in Him! How can you be offended by something you don't believe exists?

While I agree with you on many points in this article, and I also do not think that it is right that if you are religious at all people think you are "shoving it down other's throats", I do disagree with you on the fact that prayer should be returned to school. Thats just not okay. Espicially in public schools, there is a large population of muslims, jews, islams and even atheists, like me. That would be unfair and quite offensive if every school had to learn about Christianity and... (more »)
