I Am Offended

I am offended.

I can't pray in public

I can't sing "Joy to the World"

I can't set up a nativity scene in my front yard-

I'm "Shoving Religion" down "people's" throats.

I am offended.

Everyone speaks during the "moment of silence"

No one says the Pledge of Allegiance.

It's ok to drop the "F" bomb

But if I bring my Bible to school I'M crazy?

I am offended

Atheists can publicly denounce GOD ALMIGHTY

Catholics can cross themselves

But BAPTISTS are fanatics?

I am offended.

Liars have senate seats

Fools represent our nation

PRAYER was taken out of school

and no one has protested YET?

STAND UP, AMERICA!!

Have you noticed that since America pretty much dumped God off on the sidewalk, things have been more crazy than EVER?

Though, when you look at the foundation of the American constitution and just general values (not killing, freedom of speech, etc) are all based on Christian valuse. By creating such a social barriar between origanal American values (Christianity) but still upholding the Constitution and other things, we split the society and send super confusing messages. I'm not saying let's shove Christianity down every ones throat's and call it a day. I'm mearly saying, that we as a society still have to akn... (more »)

Actually, most of the founders of the US were Christian deists, who were sort of the semi-secular agnostics of their time -- they believed that there might or might not be a god, and that if there was, he was not a major presence in the world. The values we call "Christian values" also play a large part in many other religions, and, since most religions are established to promote "moral" behavior, the more general of these values are the precepts of morality as most of American society chooses t... I disagree slightly. Yes, you should be allowed to pray if you want to, but like others have said, you shouldnt mix religion with politics. And most senators are still white males anyway. :-/

Wait, most of the politician's ruling in the beginning of our nation recognized God and his importance. That is why it was a great nation that everyone wanted to live in: We had God on our side! Now that we've thrown him out, look what has happened???

Where do you see God in politician's old rulings? And have you ever thought that maybe politicians can't use God as a reason anymore because our country is so diverse? And really, who's to say that God still isn't in politician's minds when they make decisions? Are you a politician?

America is diverse because people can improve their lives here.

You know what? No, I'm not a politician, but neither are you. I just think that if politician's were more wise, this country wouldn't be falling apart.

How about we not mix politics with religion? And can we just stop this whole comment war? It's getting old.

Where do you live? At my school, we are allowed to pray whenever we want, as long as we aren't disrupting class and I don't go to a private school. But you do have to respect Atheists more. You have a right to worship and they too have a right to worship or not worship. I really don't agree with this poem. A lot of the people running our government are smart, some just don't make the decision the YOU like, and some definetely aren't the sharpest pencil in the box, but still. You need to settle d... No, she's just angry that atheists appear to have more freedoms than Baptists. If that implies hate, I never saw it.

In what world do Atheists have more rights than Baptists? They have the same rights, this is still America and we are all equal. And don't you think that, based on what she is saying in this poem, that deep down she resents Atheists? Person who wrote this poem, please respond.

A man in Canada got arrested and thrown in jail for preaching against homosexuality. Don't tell me that won't happen here. In fact, it wouldn't suprise me if it hasn't already.

What does that have to do with this? And what right does he have to say that someone can't love another person? Plus, he was more than likely being violent or something of that nature to get him thrown in jail.

Christian's aren't supposed to tell people they can't love each other, but they ARE supposed to speak against what they know is wrong. There's a difference. You can love what you will, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna agree with it! But I won't tell you you can't.

Firstly, this has nothing to do with the original topic. Secondly, how about we just agree to disagree? This is getting no where.

It has everything to do with the original topic. she wrote about not having rights and I shared the fact about the man getting arrested in Canada. I'm seeing the connection.

If you don't go to a school that allows religious displays, that's a bit unusual, because I've never been to a school that doesn't allow kids to pray. Teachers aren't allowed to make students pray because it disrupts the learning of others and offends anyone who doesn't follow that religion, but you can do it quietly with friends or to yourself as long as you don't make a big show of it. Some people may be offended by the moment of silence, since it is basically a less formal way of saying pray... (more »)
