I Am Offended

I am offended.

I can't pray in public

I can't sing "Joy to the World"

I can't set up a nativity scene in my front yard-

I'm "Shoving Religion" down "people's" throats.

I am offended.

Everyone speaks during the "moment of silence"

No one says the Pledge of Allegiance.

It's ok to drop the "F" bomb

But if I bring my Bible to school I'M crazy?

I am offended

Atheists can publicly denounce GOD ALMIGHTY

Catholics can cross themselves

But BAPTISTS are fanatics?

I am offended.

Liars have senate seats

Fools represent our nation

PRAYER was taken out of school

and no one has protested YET?

STAND UP, AMERICA!!

You state you despise our "corrupted government", yet mention things that have nothing to do with how our nation is governed. You give no evidence of corruption. The law is not intertwined into this "article" at all. Your information is false -- America is still a primarily Christian nation, after all.

The information is not false.  I forgive you if have misunderstood the author's words.  The author is not stating that America is no longer primarily Christian.  He/she is simply stating that we have taken the right to free religion too far.  The right to a free religion was set in place to make sure that the government did not enforce one religion as the British crown had.  If you remember from history class, the British crown was brutal when it came to enforcing a ... You stated you wanted to stand up against this corrupt government yet you have the freedom of speech. There is no lawing forbidding you from praying, singing, or having a nativity sign.

Actually, there are limits in freedom of speech.  A) Public decency  B) Clear and present danger (yelling "fire" in a crowded theater)  C) The Law of Defamation (libel and slander)  So no, the author cannot express all that he/she wants to.

Yes but none of these restrictions prevents the author from singing or praying.

This sounds stupid, I know, but a person of another religion might say that praying or singing Christian songs is offensive to them.

Yes people may get offended but they still have the right, if they truly want to sing or pray in public then judgement shouldn't shake them.

Saying that America is headed towards communism demonstrates a lack of understanding of the basic definition of the word "communism." Its actually quite an interesting type of government  Communism is a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating politica...   Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that we are a Christian nation. The basis of this country (partly) is freedom of religion, which means the freedom to practice ALL religions. If they were to teach Creationism in schools that would be as unfair as you think it is to teach Evolution in schools. It would be unfair to the people of other religions that practice in our country, and would infringe on their freedom.  Just because there is Evolution taught in schools, does not mea... (more »)

It's not sad at all to not mention it. This is someone's personal piece. A person from a different religion that felt the same way wouldn't have the need for their religion to be mentioned. Being overwhelmed at the fact that someone from a different religion can relate is enough. It's respectable enough.

Wow, thanks for bringing up a great point on TeenInk. I agree with you. It's unfair, but as long as we Christians keep our faith and pray for those who do not know of Christ, it will be alright. I do hope that this issue will be fixed, though.

Okay Im a baptist too but i understand how others feel it is awkward for others and you can still put up a nativity scene in your yard. If you are a cristian still bring your bible and pray when you want but dont be like hey you aint a christian so you have to beleive this to be cool. religion and politics are seperate for a reason. That is so noone is left out in the rain.

With respect, I really don't think that you want the government to officially sponsor religion. There is no law that states that you cannot pray in public, but schools are different. Public schools are state run institutions, and the government has no business sponsoring or officially endorsing anything religious. That is why the government does not tax churches. If it taxed the churches, that would mean that the government would be able to impose its rule on the religion, and you do not wan... (more »)
