The Scent of Incense Halts the Market Hubbub
Tucked into Guatemala's highlands, Chichicastenango is one of the largest trading centers in the Mayan world. On the main square, the whitewashed El Calvario chapel spotlights animistic rituals, where swinging incense cans celebrate their mystical passion. I caught the moment when the incense smoke was highlighted by a black frame.
This photograph was honored by the Young Travel Photographer of the Year 2010 Competition.
