A shadow by the tree

I am a shadow, passing by
By you, by everyone
In the shade of the tall, red tree
I watched as you pass by me
Slowly......
The petals that curled on your hair
The dry leaves by your feet
I wish I were them
Not me,
A shadow by the tree.

I wrote this piece for the poetry team of my university ,which sells postcards with little poems on them on every big occasion. This work was not selected, however.
