so this is where all the dreaming takes me
to a cold, empty reality
with sleep still in my eyes
shivering, confused, I must’ve overslept
now it’s time to wake up
one last yawn, then face the lies
I’m barefoot and the streets are rough
paved with broken glass

The imagery captures the irony well. Not many people are willing to face-let alone write about- the lies that make up the stereotypical American dream.

Nicely done!

Interesting. The image I got from this poem was of an orphaned boy, barefoot and in tattered pants. You're good.

The only difference between highschoolers and preschoolers is that preschoolers get naptime.

I absolutely love this piece because I think it captures the sardonic humor of America, and it's amazing to me tat you could do it in so few words. I can't really express how much this poem embodied to me...the fact that we're the strongest but the cruelest.

same with me. i thought it was only me: i kind of get it, but it leaves me still wondering what it exactly what it means or what the author is trying to explain what it means to him/her. but i still like the poem though.

Yesterday is history. Tommorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift that's why they call it the present.

i actually liked this poem. the concept was nice and the word choice fit the idea of this poem.

i just wish it were longer.
