truth
once upon a time
we all thought,
thought for our selves.
many things in-fact,
about love and peace
then truth strikes.
it knocks us down,
friends betray you
people change.
remember when we
thought races were
running contests.
grounded was your
bed room, not
jail
hugs and kisses
were love,
not lust.
school was
abc’s and 123’s,
crayons and finger paint.
the only drugs
we knew were
motrin and cough syrup.
a place never dreamed
of, was just one
high push on the swings.
when skinned knees were
our only pain, from a simple
bike accident.
books were told
with pictures, not
fancy words.
and to think we
gave it all up for this
responsibilty.
truth,
it hurts,
live it.
