Mental torment and agony
Divide her soul from appearance.
No one sees hows she feels.
Their ignorance upsets her so
Because she hides behind a smile.
For their sake, she hides.
Make them happy or satisfied;
It doesn't matter what she wants.
Their happiness overrides hers.
She doesn't cry during the day
For they will question and pity her.
She only cries at night.
She gazes in the mirror
And lets down her defenses.
Then the tears pour.
She thinks about it all,
Then cries some more.
She doesn't want to cry.
She dries her eyes,
Clasps her hair,
And screams out to the heavens!
O pretty face,
Behind your smile
Is a frown.
