In a new mother's smile
In an old mother's smile
On a holiday spent alone
On a yartzeit spent together
In a bucket drawn from an empty well
In a broken-down car by the side of the road
In a slow-motion, black-and-white
moving picture
In an old and empty casino
From a desert, a mountain, a sea
It rises like a mist
From the beach at sunset
From behind those eyes
From below the decks
And you can find it hiding
Between the lines
Between our hands
Between our hearts
Beyond our minds
In an old mother's smile
On a holiday spent alone
On a yartzeit spent together
In a bucket drawn from an empty well
In a broken-down car by the side of the road
In a slow-motion, black-and-white
moving picture
In an old and empty casino
From a desert, a mountain, a sea
It rises like a mist
From the beach at sunset
From behind those eyes
From below the decks
And you can find it hiding
Between the lines
Between our hands
Between our hearts
Beyond our minds
