Meow, meow, meow
I'd give a dime for a cat's cradle
But the bookstore is long closed by now.
So we sat on the side walk.
No--we laid in the street
As the car came to a screeching halt he said "Jesus Christ." I replied, "here's a dime for your troubles."
A decade, a dime, 10 days early for the Nazareth birth-
You asked me who I was, what I was made of.
How is it swallowed?
To hell if I know, but it's 10 dime shaped pills
In a tombstone dated prescription bottle.
In a seedy hut trace the lines on my palm
My script crumbling in a gypsy's hand-
She said "A decade times a decade in due time, Now give me my dime."
If I live to be a hundred,
Sculpt the wrinkles in biological chronicles-
The wiry bones of my hand, like spider's legs
Except there's 10.
Cracking clay, lifeless manikin.
Meow, meow, meow
My fate a cat's cradle
And when the clock struck 10-
Ghosts cut the cord, between god's yarn hands.
